The Product:
Tani USA is premium men’s underwear company that focuses on sophistication through simplicity. Their micromodal underwear design is “streamlined, classic with a nod towards modernity.” Tani’s focus is to be innovative through the materials that they use and let the fabric set their premium men’s underwear apart from other companies.
The SilkCut best mens underwear line that I tried is made with Micro Modal Air fabric that is thinner, softer, and more durable than silk. Tani is the only men’s underwear brand that has this sophisticated micromodal underwear fabric.
It is a highly functional material that helps remove moisture from a person’s body to help you feel cool and dry. Micro Modal Air is made from sustainable materials in a sustainable manner and the material is even biodegradable.
The First Impressions:
Every high quality underwear companies seems to make the claim that the material they use is the softest material, most breathable, quick dry underwear you will ever find.
The Micro Modal Air fabric that Tani uses for this micromodal underwear line feels like pure luxury. As mentioned their website boasts that this material is thinner and softer than silk and it’s true. I really appreciate that even though the material is thin, it is not completely transparent. After trying on the shirt, I knew this was going to be a shirt I would want to wear for everything.
I was a little disappointed in the overall fit of the boxer briefs when I first tried them on. I will go into that further in my critique portion, but the comfort of the fabric outweighs any sizing issues. The fabric is doubled up at the pouch so it provides support and modesty even when wearing white.
The Review:
Wearing Tani is an experience that everyone should experience at some point in their lives. I say everyone because Tani makes premium men’s underwear. When I did showed my wife these items for the first time, she couldn’t believe how soft the material is. She was genuinely jealous that I was getting to try these items out.
Tani’s strategy of elevating classic underwear design by using luxury fabric is simple, straight forward, and effective. When I wear the undershirt and boxer briefs from Tani I look and feel amazing.
The fit of the shirt is incredible. As mentioned in my “About” post, I’m now in my early thirties waging war against getting a ‘dad bod’. When I slip on a shirt that hugs me in the all the right places and makes me feel good about my body, it’s a keeper. The boxers are also flattering to wear. They are comfortable and not too flashy for any of those situations where you will be seen in your underwear and you really don’t want to draw that kind of attention to yourself.
I’ve worn Tani premium men’s underwear while exercising at the gym and the boxer briefs are surprisingly comfortable to wear while working out. Tani somehow figured out how to provide support amongst all of that softness from the Micro Modal Air. The shirt was very comfortable to have on while lifting weights and it does a great job of wicking away moisture from my body when I sweat.
My favorite use for these premium men’s underwear is to just wear them when I am lounging around the house. The comfort level is so high when you have the SilkCut line on that it automatically makes you want to lounge on the couch and make yourself as comfortable as possible. It’s a strange comment to make, but it is a compliment coming from a guy that is so wound up that it’s hard to let things go and find the rest that a person needs.
The Critique:
Tani makes the point of noting on their website that their sizing is based on European sizes compared to larger American sizes. They advise if you are on the border between sizes to edge on the side of ordering larger to be safe.
I am 6′-4″, 220 lbs, and have about a 38″ waist. Per their sizing chart I should be a XXL for both their shirts and underwear. I sampled an XL shirt and it is a perfect fit even for my height. The boxer brief that I tried was a XXL and it is a little larger than I prefer.
Full disclosure, over the years I have gone the boxer briefs and trunk route and have struggled to find the right support that I enjoy from my underwear. Ultimately I tend to stick with purchasing briefs because of their inherent support. The boxer briefs that I have from Tani could be properly sized and it’s just a matter of preference with the fit; however, if I were to order briefs I would go with the XL knowing there is enough stretch in the material to be a comfortable fit.
The Final Thoughts:
The SilkCut line from Tani USA is hands down a thumbs up. I would recommend this premium men’s underwear line for the guy who wants to feel like a million bucks whether or not he has that much money. The pricing is steep, but worth it even if you stick to just having one shirt and boxers from Tani. The day of the week you wear this underwear will be your most comfortable and make you excited to do laundry so you can wear it again.
